Men’s haircutting trends these days demand precise knowledge of both clipper techniques for shorter hair and shear use for longer looks. Are you looking for methods to assist your students in adding skills to their repertoire and perfecting them to meet the demands of today’s male client? Whether you’re a barbering or cosmetology educator, this workshop is perfect for you. Join Pivot Point’s education team for this exciting and versatile hands-on workshop.
You’ll cut and style two looks that explore characteristics that make a haircut masculine, and hone your skills in identifying “sharpness” and “shade” with fades. You’ll feel more confident in your tapered cuts and fades, and develop skills to empower your learners to elevate their craft and prepare them for the shop or salon.

  • Identify and perform the techniques used in fade haircuts
  • Understand how to balance a hairstyle with texture and a low fade
  • Learn the steps necessary to combine a medium-high fade with a square, masculine interior
  • Review the necessary skills required when working with longer lengths

Embrace Your Strengths, Fulfill Your Potential
Sunday, July 15, 8:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Would you like to understand how to tap into your greatest potential? As a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach and someone who has spent 17 years in the beauty industry, Mary Proctor Trane will introduce you to strengths-based performance. It’s simple: When we use our natural talents every day (whether we’re teaching, servicing our clients, working with our team–you name it) we tap into our areas of greatest potential for success.
Research by Gallup shows that people who work in their areas of natural ability daily:
  • Are 6 times more likely to be engaged in their work
  • Treat clients and co-workers better
  • Are more creative, productive, efficient and profitable
  • Feel more confident, successful and purposeful
  • Are 3 times more likely to report having an excellent quality of life
In this engaging keynote, Mary will set the foundation for Strengths Performance and why it’s important to achieve better results. Through interactive activities and conversations, you will start to build your own strengths awareness and leave inspired to learn more.

Individuality has never been more important in our educational community—today’s generation of learners is a generation of individuals. In every aspect of their lives, their individualism is celebrated. To educators, this translates into a need to zig and zag to personalize learning for each and every learner.
Educators need to be mindful of these learning differences and fuel their teaching with tools that work. Effective educators will use strategies based on critical-thinking skills, case studies and relevant situational scenarios to enrich the learning process. Classrooms that are wired, focused on content and inspired by momentum lead the way in today’s learning environment.
