Pivot Point Cut-a-Thon Fundraising Efforts Approach $1,000,000
Pivot Point Cares for KidsTM is approaching the $1,000,000 mark as it prepares for its fourth annual Nationwide Cut-a-Thon fundraiser on May 19. Pivot Point works with schools and salons throughout the United States in its annual fundraising efforts for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).For several years, Pivot Point has been a proud supporter of the NCMEC, raising over $900,000 for this worthwhile organization.
In addition to raising money for the Center, Pivot Point will, once again, partner with the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) and its Cut-It-Out program to assist their efforts in ending domestic violence. Through this partnership, Pivot Point Academies throughout the Chicago area will sell Cut-a-Thon Certificates, which will be donated to local shelters for their residents to redeem for services at the Academies throughout the coming year. All money raised through the sale of these certificates will be donated to the NCMEC.
The U.S. Department of Justice reports that an average of 2,185 children are reported missing each day. In addition, research indicates that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys will be sexually victimized before adulthood. Plus, research indicates that one in seven youths (10 to 17 years old) have received a sexual solicitation or approach over the Internet. With such staggering statistics, the work of the NCMEC is more important than ever.Since 1984, the Center has worked with law enforcement on more than 154,161 missing children cases and played a role in reuniting more than 138,506 children with their families. The NCMEC has also been instrumental in teaching families about child safety through a variety of programs.
